10p

I had two sources of income in the mid-80s. A paper round and a Saturday job stamping brochures in a travel agent. My work rate on brochures was variable; I could get through a box of Saga Holidays in no time, while the Yugotours naturist holiday brochures were tackled at a more sedate pace.

My earnings mostly went to the owner of a little record shop in Cheam. She offered over-priced albums and under-priced singles. There was a box of 10p singles on the counter and she would glower at me while I prospected for cheap vinyl gold.

She was an expert glowerer.

This was one of those 10p finds, in the fine company of other no-hit wonders including The Lover Speaks, Swimming with Sharks, So, Shooting Party, Fire Next Time, Scary Thieves, View from the Hill, Latin Quarter, The Bible, Thomas Lang, The Innocence Mission, Skin Games and Wire Train.
