My favorite Latin-pun-in-diplomatic-dispatches story.
In 1842, Charles James Napier, Major General to the Indian army, captures the Sindh province (in modern-day Pakistan). His dispatch back to London is one Latin word: “peccavi” (I have sinned).
Qawwali is a Sufi devotional music, popular in the Sindh province, its greatest exponent the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
