In April 1960, Eddie Cochrane was traveling in a taxi near Chippenham, England with his girlfriend Sharon Sheeley and Gene Vincent when a tire blew out. Cochrane threw himself over his girlfriend. He died, she lived to 62.
They met in 1959, when he noticed her wearing a pair of Levi’s. Their meeting inspired an ad campaign in the UK in the late 80s which resurrected classic tunes from Cochrane (C’mon Everybody), Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Percy Sledge and Ben E King. All saw new success.
Ben E King passed away last week, Percy Sledge the week before.
