I had no idea when Tune of the Week spawned this blog a couple of months ago, quite how popular it would become around the globe.
It had one visitor this week. He or she came from Russia. A slight Russian theme then as a “thank you”.
Certain celebrities have been cursed by sharing a death day with another celebrity, having their obituary eclipsed by another. Aldous Huxley (Brave New World) and CS Lewis (the Narnia books) both died on the same day as JFK. The Russian composer Prokofiev (Peter and the Wolf, Romeo and Juliet) died on the same day as Stalin. The leading Moscow music periodical of the day devoted its first 115 pages to Stalin, giving Prokofiev a short mention on page 116.
This song is from Russian singer-songwriter Regina Spektor.
